Yes this is... well kind of, a gag price. But for good reasons haha
Yes, you read that right! A one followed by six zeros! THE MILLION DOLLAR BOARD!
This deck has sentimental value to us here at Hilltop Skateshop. Back at the start of 2023 when we took on the local skate shop here in Toowoomba, the website got put on pause while we went through the handover of MP Skateboards (the original business name). Liam 'Happy' Burton had taken on all stock from the previous owner, Brett Muller, but were still in the process of handing over the reins & getting everything swapped over & sorted. Nothing was meant to be sold for that week during the handover - but a call from a customer, who had somehow managed to make a purchase, changed this.
Liam, having not had a proper dig in the stock, went & found this deck for his first official customer - and what a sick board! It was sorted for the customer & on its way. At this stage we thought about framing a single dollar or an avocado to hang in the shop as a memory of the first sale of the new business. Then an idea was had.
Hanging a dollar is kind of a normal business thing to do. So why not do something... a wee bit different?
So, Happy searched & found another deck in the possession of a fellow skate shop. It was $20 bucks more than the deck sale had actually made but mmeh, we MUST HAVE IT!
After the rebrand to Hilltop Skateshop & having a brick & mortar location, heaps of locals kept trying to buy the board from the shop. So, a million-dollar price tag was put onto it for a laugh, and no, we won't except a dollar less for it, that's what it's worth to the shop!
Just know though, if someone ever buys this board, we will be doing some amazeballs things locally with the dosh! We could build a mad indoor park for the community with that kind of money. Might even throw in the frame...
Till then, it's viewable in the shop in its golden light-up frame!
"It's the first deck this store sold when we took on the skate shop. So, after selling this deck, I hunted for another one to keep in the shop. I kept having people ask to buy it, so decided to put this price on it. I won't part with it for a dollar less, but know if it did sell, we'll put it into building something dope as f@#k for the local scene! Hahahaha"
"Think of it as our first dollar made, but in skateboard form."
