The idea behind Hard Luck was born in 2001 when longtime friend of Jason Jessee's, Mark Gonzales, drew a skull with a pen and a wrench on an envelope with the words Hard Luck around it on an envelope and told Jason he should turn it into a company.

The idea was then born into a reality when Hard Luck MFG began producing goods with high performance bearings, accessories and apparel.
