Story.

Sandpaper was built to cut and grind things down, which means shoes never stood a chance. Until today, there's never been a decent alternative since existing non-abrasive materials were either too expensive or didn't have the right friction. This is why we've spent the last 4 years perfecting our own.Unlike sandpaper or foam, DKL Griptape is more similar to the rubber found on ping pong paddles. This similarity gives it the same flick and friction without being abrasive. It's a one of a kind material backed by years of research, creation and testing of new materials built specifically for skateboarding.Fun Fact:  Years ago, ping pong paddles were also made with sandpaper but have since evolved into rubber grip.

The Process.

Just like skateboarding is a process, building something new that's never been done before is also a process. Check out the video below to see our very first prototype. Since then, we've perfected the material and built a manufacturing line based on testing with pros, skate shops and tons of skaters.

Skateboarding is expensive. Some really great companies are working to improve the durability of decks while others are striving to keep costs down. You spend a lot of money on your shoes, and our mission is to make sure they last. Because fresh shoes are awesome, and not being broke is also awesome.We hope you love our product and mission as much as we enjoyed building this company. Risks and Challenges.

By far our biggest challenge throughout this development has been consistency of our formulations and manufacturing at a reasonable cost, however this is why we've spent 4 years quietly researching and testing our materials. We've made several major breakthroughs, and now we know we can make this product. Our manufacturing line is ready, and we can't wait to share DKL griptape with you. The really hard parts are done. That said, nothing is without some challenge, and there are always little bumps and hiccups that can occur. These risks can be human error or minor iterations of optimizing a process. We've planned for and budgeted for them. We're more than ready. We got this.
